Payment by Credit Card

Beginning spring term 2007, University students/authorized payers may choose to pay the balance due in their University student accounts with MasterCard, DISCOVER, or American Express credit cards (VISA is not a participant).

  • Credit card payment is available only as an online service of UM Pay. The University will not accept credit card payments through the mail, in person, or over the phone.

  • Students/payers who choose the credit card option will be charged a one-time, non-refundable service charge per transaction that is 2.75 percent of the payment amount by a third-party vendor, infiNET. For example, a student who makes a $500 payment with his or her credit card will be assessed $13.75 for the service provided by infiNET. The service charge, which will appear separately on the student’s (or payer's) credit card statement, offsets infiNET’s costs in working with the credit card companies.

  • All costs for choosing to pay with a credit card must be assumed by the student/authorized payer. The University does not receive, nor will it underwrite, any portion of the service charge.

  • The service charge from infiNET is in addition to the interest rate charged by the credit card company.
