Registration Procedures

ALL REGISTRATIONS AND CANCELLATIONS MUST BE PROCESSED THRU THE UNITE OFFICE. DO NOT CANCEL REGISTRATIONS YOURSELF.

General Procedure | Computerized Registration | Registrations Materials

The registration procedures for UNITE students differ somewhat from the procedures for conventional students. It does not involve online/in person registration.

General Procedure

If you wish to register for UNITE courses, you must be admitted to a University of Minnesota academic division as a degree student – the Graduate School, the Institute of Technology or other colleges of the University; or a non-degree student, adult special or GRAD-PRD, for example.

If you wish to take a UNITE course and have not been admitted to one of these divisions prior to a month before the beginning of the semester, you should complete an Application for Admission as an Adult Special or a GRAD-PRD enrollment form and forward it to the UNITE Office through your company UNITE site coordinator no later than three weeks before the semester begins. These will be processed by the UNITE Office for enrollment, thereby insuring that you can take the desired UNITE course(s). These forms should be sent along with the registration materials.

If you have applied to Graduate School and have not heard about your status you should not register until the end of the registration period. If you have not heard by this time you should register as a GRAD-PRD (this way you will avoid paying late fees). As soon as you hear that you've been accepted, notify the UNITE Office so your registration can be changed to the Graduate School. The UNITE office MUST be notified or you will remain a GRAD-PRD student and reapplication to Graduate School will be necessary.

If you are enrolled in Graduate School but have not taken courses in the last academic year, you will need to reactivate your file.

Registration materials for students in the UNITE program can be found in the Registration Forms section of this site.

Computerized Registration

Although the University of Minnesota registers on-campus students by computer, UNITE students follow a different registration procedure - ALL FORMS MUST GO THROUGH THE UNITE OFFICE FOR THE COMPUTER REGISTRATION PROCESS. As a UNITE student, this process is handled by the UNITE Office, not the student. This is true for cancellations as well.

As a UNITE student it is important that the information listed on the UNITE Information Sheet be accurate and complete, each and every semester that you register.

Registration Materials

You must complete an UNITE Information Sheet each semester you register. Your registration materials are then submitted to the UNITE Administrative Office.

The University will bill you directly for all tuition and fees.
