Tuition amounts are the same for students taking the class for A-F, Pass/Fail, or Audit grading. If students are only taking a UNITE course they are charged resident tuition. If students are taking an on-campus course and are classified in the University's system as a non-resident, they are charged non-resident tuition rates for ALL courses.

*   Six or more graduate credits is full time graduate status
** Thirteen or more undergraduate credits is full time undergraduate status

NOTE: NEW FEES

  • We no longer are able to waive certain University of Minnesota fees. The Graduate and Professional Student Association Fee $11.53 and Student Emergency Loan Fund Fee $.20 will be charged to students in a graduate program.

  • In addition, the International Student and Scholar Services will also be charging international students in a program their fee of $60. If students change their status, they should contact that office at 612-626-7100.

  • The first semester students are officially in graduate school, they WILL BE charged an orientation fee of $40. This is a one time fee and UNITE is unable to waive this fee.

  • The University charges a "University Fee" when students register. UNITE WILL NOT be able to get this fee waived. The fee is $50.00 per credit

  • IT Technology Fee: NEW POLICY Image to indiate a link to a web page outside the UNITE web site, which opens in a new window.

UNITE SPECIAL FEE

UNITE Distributed Learning is a self-supporting office at the University of Minnesota. In order to operate, we must charge a special fee in addition to tuition and other University of Minnesota fees.

This fee covers administrative, technical, and maintenance costs of running the program. This fee will be charged directly to independent streaming video students and students from select UNITE companies, otherwise the fee will be billed directly to the company. You can talk to your site coordinator if you are unsure about this fee. The fee is $150 per credit for A-F or S-N grading, and $75 per credit for audit students.

IT TECHNOLOGY FEE (aka Computer Fee)

NOTE: If you are taking an on-campus course - the policy for on-campus students will apply. It overrides the UNITE waiver and you WILL be charged the full amount.

2nd NOTE: Students at the Non-Degree Grad Credit status are not being charged fall 2007 because you are not officially attached to a program. The University is currently in discussions right now, and that policy may change for spring 2008.

Those graduate students who have completed 24 semester credits in graduate school at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, exclusive of thesis credits, will be exempt from the fee unless they open a lab account.

At the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, the UNITE office will be making the adjustments before the first bill is due. If you have questions please contact our office. We will not be able to make any changes after the last week of class. You are responsible for paying all fees by the University's deadlines, we can not waive any late fees if you do not pay by their dates.

Student Accounts Receivable Billing System for Tuition and Fees
The University of Minnesota now offers electronic billing and payment of your student account bills (tuition, fees, housing, books, etc.) This means that paper bills will no longer exist for enrolled students.

The new UM Pay electronic billing and payment system will automatically send an e-mail notification to the student's U of M e-mail address when the bill is ready to be viewed online. Students will need their U of M Internet ID and password to login to the UM Pay system. Authorized payers will need to use the login name and password provided by their student.

Accessing e-bill/e-pay on the Web
Log on to e-bill/e-pay on the One Stop web site www.onestop.umn.edu/Student. Follow the links to connect to the e-bill/e-pay system. Once connected, you can view your bill on-line. You can view the current bills plus any electronic bills created during the past year. Bills have been redesigned so they are easier to read.

To use the e-bill/e-pay system, you will need to enter your University Internet ID and password. If you have not yet initiated your Internet account, you can initiate it on-line (https://www.umn.edu/initiate Image to indiate a link to a web page outside the UNITE web site, which opens in a new window.). If you have forgotten your password, have any problems logging on, or getting bumped off the system, contact the Technology Helpline at 612-301-4357.

Paying by mail is still possible. You can print out a bill to pay by mail.
